Myers, David; Stonewall Jackson, The Spiritual Side; Sprinkle Publications

Set around a historical figure of the Southern Confederacy of Civil War times, it seeks to show  how the Christian faith was lived by this Presbyterian Christian general.  Chapter headings include "Saved by grace," "Confessing Christ,"  "Worshiping God," "A Christian Presbyterian,"  "With the blessing of providence,"  "A favorite text,"  "A day kept holy,"  "A primer on prayer," and other traits of the general's life.  It would be great for a Men of the Covenant group, a small home group study with a desire for something different, or even a youth group.   Individuals would profit from it as well.

Myers, David; The Boy Major of the Confederacy: Joseph White Latimer; Sprinkle Publications

Boy_Major.jpg

It is the true biography of a young nineteen year old Confederate officer who would be mortally wounded on Benner's  Hill on July 2nd during the Gettysburg battle.  Two months later, he would die in Harrisonburg, Va, but not before he would utter a deathbed profession of faith, stating that he is assured of eternal life based "not on good works, but by the merits of Jesus Christ alone."
